NSA ends notice tactic that pulled in citizens’ emails, texts

The U.S. National Security Agency will no longer differentiate by emails, texts and other internet communications that discuss targets of surveillance.

The change, that a NSA announced on Friday, stops a argumentative tactic that critics pronounced disregarded U.S. citizens’ remoteness rights.

The use concerned flagging communications where a unfamiliar notice aim was mentioned, even if that aim wasn’t concerned in a conversation. Friday’s proclamation means a NSA will stop collecting this data.

“Instead, this notice will now be singular to usually those communications that are directly ‘to’ or ‘from’ a unfamiliar comprehension target,” a NSA pronounced in a statement.
